1 arrested after shootout in front of bar

One person was arrested early Saturday after detectives witnessed a shooting between two people in front of a north-side bar, police said.

Dujuane Woods, 24, is charged with felony criminal recklessness.

Fort Wayne police said its Gang and Violent Crimes Unit had learned that several known gang members would be attending a party at Legends Sports Bar at 4104 North Clinton St., so it was conducting surveillance there.

During the night detectives witnessed two men get into an argument in front of the bar, pull handguns and exchange gunfire at 2:26 a.m.

Woods was taken into custody by on-duty and off-duty officers who responded to the shooting, but the other gunman went back into the bar after the shooting and was not found by police.

The shooting is still under investigation.

On Halloween night in 2011, when the same bar was known as Mookie’s, three people were shot there, and one, Justin Bush, was killed. Bush’s killing has never been solved.
