  • C. Lockwood Marine, retired Soya executive, dies at 76
    C. Lockwood Marine, a retired senior vice president from Central Soya, a volunteer for SCAN and a vice chairman of the Indiana Kids First Trust Fund, died Tuesday morning at his home. He was 76.

    Science Central got a little "sprucing up" today by volunteers from Lincoln Financial Foundation as part of the Allen County United Way’s "Day of Caring.
  • Harrison section to close for sidewalk work
    Harrison Street will be closed to traffic from about 6 a.m. to noon Thursday between Wayne and Berry streets for sidewalk work, the city of Fort Wayne said today.

Flood waters surround a pickup and a home Friday in Lafayette. Authorities say an ice jam caused a creek to overflow its banks, flooding several homes and prompting some evacuations. Huntington also had an ice jam and flooding.

Flood warning updates

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana announced Saturday morning that flood warnings have been extended or issued for the following rivers:

  • St. Joseph River near the St. Joe River in Fort Wayne, affecting Allen County. At 7 a.m. Saturday, the river at this point was 11.9 feet and rising. Flood stage is 12 feet. It is expected to rise above flood stage early Saturday afternoon. Minor flooding is forecast.
  • St. Joseph River above Newville affecting Allen, DeKalb and Defiance counties. At 7 a.m. Saturday, the river at this point was 11.1 feet and rising. Flood stage is 12 feet. It is expected to rise above flood stage Monday evening. Minor flooding is expected.
  • St. Marys River near Decatur, affecting Adams, Allen and Van Wert counties. At 7 a.m. Saturday, the river at that point was 16.7 feet and rising. Flood stage is 17 feet. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Saturday afternoon. Minor flooding is expected.
  • Wabash River near Bluffton, affecting Huntington and Wells counties. The river is expected to rise above flood stage, 10 feet, on Sunday evening. Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Wabash River near Linn Grove, affecting Adams and Wells counties.
  • Salamonie River below Warren, affecting Blackford, Huntington, Jay, Wabash and Wells counties.
  • Tippecanoe River near Ora, affecting Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski and Starke counties.
  • Tiffin River near Stryker, affecting Defiance, Fulton and Williams counties.
  • Auglaize River near Fort Jennings, affecting the Ohio counties of Allen, Paulding and Putnam.
