Car stolen while woman recycling

A man allegedly stole a car from a woman who was dropping off newspapers in the recycling bins outside Fort Wayne Newspapers on Wednesday.

The woman told police she parked her car facing west in a small parking lot in front of the newspaper building at 600 W. Main St. at 1:50 p.m.

After recycling her newspapers, a man dressed in a “fuzzy” beige-colored jacket walked up and began looking in her driver’s-side window, according to a Fort Wayne Police Department report.

The woman said she yelled at the man, but he opened the door and got into the car.

She grabbed onto the door just as the man began to drive off, causing her to fall to the ground and get injured, according to the report.

Police said the vehicle was later found but the man has not been arrested.
