Philharmonic board agrees to musicians' contract

The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Executive Board and its musicians have completed work on a new one-year contract, the Philharmonic announced today.

After more than nine months of negotiations surrounding a deficit of more than $2.3 million, the Philharmonic board voted to ratify the new contract.

The musicians will take a reduction from 40 paid weeks to 33, amounting to a 17.5 percent loss in wages. Full-time musicians will maintain their positions and their health insurance coverage.

The musicians approved the contract Feb. 14.

The contract goes into effect immediately, and will run through Dec. 31.
