Mich. snowmobile crash kills Larwill man

McMILLAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities say a Larwill, Ind., snowmobiler was killed and another man seriously hurt in a crash in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Luce County sheriff’s officials said Timothy Hearld, 43, of Larwill, died at the scene. Joseph Brandel, 40, of Milford, Ohio, was flown to a hospital in his home state with serious injuries.

Deputy Steven Kellogg said Brandel suffered multiple broken bones and fractures, but medical officials told him Wednesday night that Brandel was expected to live.

Kellogg said two groups of snowmobiles were riding a trail in McMillan Township on Wednesday afternoon when the leaders from each group collided at a sharp corner.
