Guilty plea for 1 of 2 accused in bank heist

Michael C. Bure

After trying unsuccessfully to get his case split off from his co-defendant, a Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty to bank robbery.

Michael C. Bure, who was 27 in April at the time of the indictment, admitted to robbing the New Haven PNC Bank branch in October 2011.

According to court documents, Matthew Lester Vanschoick, 28 at the time of the indictment, went inside to rob the bank while Bure waited outside in a getaway vehicle.

Bure pleaded guilty before U.S. District Magistrate Judge Roger B. Cosbey on Tuesday. He will be sentenced at a later date by U.S. District Judge Theresa Springmann. Vanschoick’s court status is pending.
