Fort Wayne among tree grant recipients

The Indiana Division of Forestry has awarded $118,343 in federal funds to 12 cities, towns and nonprofits for urban forestry projects, including Fort Wayne and Kendallville.

The projects include tree inventory and analysis for management planning, new tree plantings and education and awareness campaigns.

Fort Wayne and Kendallville were each awarded $12,500 for tree planting projects that target environmental problems concerning water quality, flooding, air quality and pollutants.

The money from the U.S. Forest Service was awarded through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources' Community and Urban Forestry program.
