Board OKs next phase of downtown sewer work

FORT WAYNE – Board of Public Works members on Wednesday approved moving forward with the next phase of a project to build new storm sewers downtown.

This phase will install new storm sewers under Jefferson and Washington boulevards, as well as Fairfield, Baker, Harrison, Fulton and Webster streets, continuing a project that installed them on Main and Berry.

The work will remove rain water from the combined sewers downtown and send it to the river. Construction is expected to start in April and be complete by January.
