A section of Glenbrook Square was closed Tuesday morning after what has been described as a roof failure that happened about 2 a.m.
Phone and email messages left for the mall management were not immediately returned, but a Journal Gazette editor went to the mall and saw that a corridor leading to the Sear's store was closed and construction signs were up about 9 a.m.
An employee at the mall office said the manager was busy dealing with the cleanup and referred those with questions to Glenbrook's website and Facebook page.
This is what was posted:
"Glenbrook Square suffered a roof failure the morning of February 18th that effected a small section outside of Sears. The mall will be open for business at regular time (10am-9pm) with only a small section closed to foot traffic. Some stores in the Sear's corridor may be closed for a portion of the day. Please contact the mall office at 260-483-2121 for more information."
Stacey Fleming, a Fort Wayne Fire Department spokeswoman, said she could confirm that there was a roof collapse between Sear's and the TGI Fridays restaurant. She said that code enforcement officials went to the scene this morning.
A water main break in November resulted in more than 50 Glenbrook stores temporarily closing.
