1st of 2 victims who died in body shop blaze ID’d

One of two victims of a fatal fire Thursday in Milford has been identified as Annalu Nunez.

Firefighters found Nunez on the second floor of the Medina Body Repair Shop. She was identified by the Kosciusko County coroner’s office.

The cause of death was smoke inhalation.

Another victim was found on the first floor.

He also died of smoke inhalation. That victim is presumed to be Jose Medina, but DNA tests must be performed to confirm his identity, according to Indiana State Police.

Fire officials last week said no one was working at the repair shop, on Indiana 15 in Milford, when the fire was reported about 7:20 a.m. Thursday.

Both victims lived at the body shop, police said Sunday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
