Fire ruins home, none hurt

A house on Fort Wayne’s northeast side was heavily damaged Friday as a fire ripped through the attic.

Firefighters were called to 6502 Mapledowns Drive near Maplecrest and Stellhorn roads at 2:41 p.m.

Smoke was coming from the attic of the one-story home and firefighters worked for about 20 minutes to contain the fire, the fire department said.

One person was inside the home, but was not injured, officials said.

The house sustained heavy fire damage and moderate smoke and water damage.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
