Sale of mounted badger nets charges

A Kosciusko County man has been charged with selling a mounted badger on Craigslist.

Indiana Department of Natural Resources officers acting on a tip through the Turn in a Poacher program – also known as the TIP line – investigated the case.

The man is charged with unlawful possession of wildlife and unlawful sale of wildlife, both misdemeanors.

State law bars the sale or possession of protected species such as badgers, bobcats or river otters without a proper permit, according to DNR officials.

People who witness violations of fish and wildlife laws are asked to call the TIP line at 1-800-TIP-IDNR.
