Scoring mark set in win by Spartans

In a 90-24 blowout victory by Homestead in a Class 4A sectional game over Wayne, the Spartans’ Sydney Buck scored 22 points and became the team’s all-time leading scorer Tuesday night.

She has 1,335 points, surpassing the 1,326 of Amy Waugh, who starred at Xavier.

At South Side, the Spartans (21-1) scored 25 of the first 29 points and led 51-10 at halftime.

Karissa McLaughlin had 16 points for Homestead.

Wayne (6-12) got 10 from Carmen James.

Class 4A

WARSAW 59, ELKHART MEMORIAL 24: At Middlebury, Nikki Grose scored 20 points and added 10 rebounds for the Tigers (10-9). Elkhart Memorial (6-11) was led by Khadijah Moore’s 10 points.

Class 3A

GARRETT 58, ANGOLA 34: In Garrett, Kaitlin Wisel scored 15 points. She was 4 of 6 from 3-point range and got the rest of her points from the free-throw line. She also had six rebounds. Teammate Brandi Dawson scored 14 points for the Railroaders (21-0).

Angola (8-11) got 12 points from Becca Buchs.

WHITKO 49, WEST NOBLE 46, OT: In Nappanee, Jennifer and Aly Reiff had all four of the Wildcats’ points in overtime. Aly 17 points for Whitko (15-6). West Noble (11-10) got 19 points from Kelsie Peterson.

NORWELL 81, BELLMONT 28: At Bellmont, Stephanie Conrad led the Knights (17-4) with 16 points and six rebounds. Mackenzie Sawyer added 15 points. Bellmont (0-21) got 13 points from Courtney Scherer.

COLUMBIA CITY, EASTBROOK 43: At Bellmont, Aubrey Wright scored 18 points for the Eagles (13-8). Eastbrook (15-6) got 15 from Brooke Saylor.

Class 2A

WOODLAN 55, SOUTH ADAMS 39: In Bluffton, Brooke Gerbers scored 15 points for Woodlan (13-6).

South Adams (13-7) got 11 apiece from Sydney Willis and Dzejna Ahmetovic.

FREMONT 54, CENTRAL NOBLE 39: In Albion, Shae Rhonehouse’s 21 points led the Eagles (13-9) past the Cougars (4-15).
