A story about interest rates paid on checking accounts on Page 1H Sunday implied that Lake City Bank’s interest rate of 1.01 percent is the highest paid in northeast Indiana. In fact, it is the highest of rates compiled from area banks. MidWest America Federal Credit Union pays 1.66 percent on rewards checking accounts. It’s possible that other credit unions or banks not reviewed pay higher annual rates.
