Pre-dawn fire heavily damages garage

FORT WAYNE – A garage on the city’s southeast side was badly damaged in a fire early Tuesday.

Firefighters were sent to 2308 Central Drive shortly before 5 a.m. When they arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the building, according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

It said their efforts were hampered by extremely cold temperatures and compressed gas inside the garage.

No injuries were reported.
