Indiana has 6 football home games on 2014 schedule

Indiana will have six home games on its 2014 football schedule including the conference opener against Big Ten newcomer Maryland.

The schedule released by the school Tuesday has Indiana opening its season Aug. 30 by playing host to Indiana State. It’s the third straight year the in-state teams will meet in the season opener at Memorial Stadium.

The Hoosiers only other non-conference home game is against North Texas on Oct. 4. In addition, the Hoosiers will play host to Big Ten rivals Michigan State, Penn State and Purdue, while visiting Iowa, Michigan, Rutgers and Ohio State.

Because of the conference realignment, Indiana will not face Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern or Wisconsin.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday.

The Hoosiers were 5-7 in 2013, one win short of becoming bowl eligible.
