Statement as issued Tuesday by the DeKalb County Sheriff's department:
On 2/10/14 at approximately 9:00 p.m., DeKalb Co. Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 5100blk of CR 39 in reference to locating a male suspect that was suspected of a domestic battery that had occurred in Allen County.
Contact was made with the male suspect and while officers were on scene they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from an outbuilding on the property.
DeKalb County Deputies and an Auburn K9 Officer obtained a search warrant for the outbuilding and vehicle located at the residence.
Inside the outbuilding a large marijuana growing operation was located. Approximately 100 marijuana plants were located with an approximate street value of $100,000.
Investigation is ongoing and charges are pending at this time.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Indiana State Police Eradication Team, and the Auburn Police Department.
