4 demand cash, hurt owner in invasion

Four men invaded a home demanding money Tuesday evening in the 300 block of East Suttenfield Street, according to a police report.

A woman told police a young man wearing a stocking cap knocked on her back door about 6 p.m. Thinking it was a friend of her son’s, she opened the door. The young man at the door pushed his way inside, and three other people wearing ski masks ran into her yard, the report said.

Not knowing he was in on the robbery, she locked the door behind him, but the man had a gun in his hand and hit her in the head, knocking her to the ground. He then let the three other men inside the house and they screamed about being given money, according to the report.

The first man ordered the woman’s two daughters into the kitchen, facing the wall, and told them he was going to “assassinate them” if he didn’t get more money. The three three men then went through the house. Finding another daughter upstairs, locked in her bedroom, one of the men knocked on her door. When she opened it, holding her cellphone, one of the men hit her in the face, believing she had called police, the report said.

The four men fled – two out the front door and two out the back door, likely to a car waiting nearby, the report said.
