The Mad Ants lost today for only the fifth time in their last 15 games, falling 97-95 at Erie, Penn.
Ron Howard led the Mad Ants (16-12) with 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting, but Fort Wayne never led by more than four points against the BayHawks (9-20).
Newly acquired center Brian Butch, a former D-League all-star, played 14 minutes in his debut and had three points and four rebounds. He was acquired Monday in a trade with Bakersfield for a second-round pick and the rights to Anthony Richardson.
But Fort Wayne was outscored 62-46 in the paint by Erie.
Erie was led by Terrence Jennings' 17 points and 13 apiece from Micah Downs and Alex Oriakhi.
After a Sadiel Rojas putback tied the game with 4.5 second remaining for Fort Wayne, Ricky Davis won it with a 17-foot- jump shot with 0.8 seconds remaining at Erie Insurance Arena, where there were 4,718 fans.
Davis had only eight points in the game.
Tony R. Mitchell had 18 points on 7 of 23 shooting for Fort Wayne.
Trey McKinney-Jones had 11 points.
The other Tony Mitchell, on assignment from the Detroit Pistons, had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Peyton Siva, also of the Pistons, had 10 points and five assists.
On Saturday, the Mad Ants play host to Sioux Falls at Memorial Coliseum.
