County's 35th homicide in 2013 ruled self-defense

The Allen County Prosecutor's Office has determined the October shooting death of 33-year-old Ricardo M. Hood was self-defense.

Hood was shot to death on the porch of a home he was believed to be burglarizing in the 300 block of Melita Street, police said at the time.

His death was ruled the 35th homicide of 2013.

"The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has determined that this death was a result of self defense, and therefore no charges will be filed," according to a statement issued by Prosecutor Karen Richards' office.
