Purdue women lose leading scorer

The Purdue women's basketball team lost its leading scorer.

Senior KK Houser tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee in the second half of Sunday's 89-73 loss at Michigan State, the Boilermakers announced Monday. Houser was leading all scorers with 17 points when she left the game with 5:12 to play.

The 5-foot-6 guard averaged 15.9 points for Purdue. She also led the team in assists (5.2 per game) and minutes played (31.2 per game.)

This is the second ACL injury for Houser. She missed her sophomore season after tearing the ligament in her right knee in the first game of the year.

Purdue (15-7, 5-5 Big Ten) fell from No. 19 to 25 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday, and the Boilermakers' next game is Thursday when they play host to Ohio State (14-11, 4-5).
