Ohioan badly hurt in Defiance County crash

An Ohio man was badly injured in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday in Defiance County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by James A. Wolfrum, 28, of Ney, Ohio, was eastbound on County Road 424 near Limbaugh Road in Delaware Township about 3:30 a.m. when the vehicle went off the north side of the road and hit a guardrail. Police said the vehicle traveled on top of the guardrail for “an extended period of time” before rolling several times.

Wolfrum, who was not wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured, police said, and was taken to Defiance Regional Hospital. His condition at the hospital was unavailable Saturday evening.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
