Fleet-footed employee foils attempted robbery

A man with a bandanna over his face tried to rob Marco’s Pizza at 1612 St. Joe Center Road on Thursday.

His plans were foiled, though, when an employee ran from him instead of giving him money.

An employee told Fort Wayne police he heard the door chime, indicating that someone had walked into the pizzeria.

As the employee walked from the back to the front of the restaurant, he saw a man duck down by the counter.

Shortly thereafter, a man with a silver handgun approached and demanded that the employee open the register, according to a police report.

The man wore a dark, hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over a red stocking cap.

Instead of giving him money, the employee fled out the back door.

Witnesses later said they saw the man with the gun rush out the back door as well.
