Mom accused of leaving 2 kids alone

Brandy M. Horne

She’s accused of leaving her young children home alone while she bashed her truck into another person’s vehicle.

Now, a Fort Wayne mother faces two felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.

Allen County prosecutors formally charged Brandy M. Horne, 36, of the 200 block of South Cornell Circle with two counts of child neglect and one count of criminal mischief. Two people saw her Jeep slam into a parked car last week, according to Allen Superior Court documents.

Both witnesses knew Horne, and police tracked her to her home. As they arrived, a maroon Chevy pulled up in which Horne was a passenger.

She smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet, according to court records. Inside the home, police found her children, ages 4 and 3, left alone, court records said.
