Driver clocked going 110 mph on I-69

Ionday Depree Smith

A 25-year-old Fort Wayne man was arrested late Wednesday on Interstate 69 in Allen County, accused of driving 110 mph in a car that wasn’t his.

State trooper James Bailey reported that he was northbound in an unmarked car about 11:15 p.m. near the Coldwater Road exit when a red car whipped past him.

Ionday Depree Smith was stopped under the overpass at the Interstate 469 interchange, according to the state police Fort Wayne Post.

Police said they determined that Smith’s driving privileges had been suspended for 10 years.

Smith was charged with reckless driving and a felony charge of habitual traffic violator.

The car was released to its owner, who was a passenger.
