Debt-threat calls a scam, police warn

A phone scam in which someone claims you owe money and that a warrant for your arrest will be issued if you don’t pay is making the rounds.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Wayne Police Department have received several phone calls in the past few days about the scam.

As part of the scam, the caller says that a sheriff or a federal agent will come to people’s homes to arrest them if they don’t pay the debt.

Residents receiving such solicitations should not send any money, police said.
