Justin Bieber has a Valentine’s Day date with a South Florida judge on charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license.

A Miami-Dade County judge on Tuesday set a Feb. 14 arraignment date for the 19-year-old pop star. In an arraignment, prosecutors formally file charges and a plea is entered, although a defendant’s lawyer can enter the plea in writing. Bieber might not be required to attend.

Bieber and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff were arrested last week in Miami Beach during what police described as an illegal street drag race. Police say Bieber admitted to smoking marijuana, drinking and taking a prescription medication.

Joel show opens

Billy Joel has begun his residency at Madison Square Garden with an energetic show that covers a wide swath of his musical catalog.

Joel and his band came out to thunderous applause Monday night and launched into “Miami 2017,” a song Joel wrote in the early 1970s about post-apocalyptic New York City. Throughout his set, he covered many of his signature songs, as well as a few more obscure tracks.

The Grammy Award-winning icon is set to perform sold-out shows until September with more being added later in the year.

Not guilty plea

Flavor Flav pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges stemming from a traffic stop this month as he raced to his mother’s funeral in suburban New York.

State police said the rapper and reality TV star, whose real name is William Drayton, was speeding and driving without a license, a felony, on Jan. 9.

His attorney, Indji Bessim, told Nassau County District Court Judge Norman St. George that over the past several days she and her client have worked to clear up the 16 outstanding traffic matters that sparked the unlicensed driving charge.

The judge released Drayton without bail, although the rapper has not been in custody.
