Huntington County worker accused of theft

A Huntington County Health Department worker was arrested Tuesday, accused of using a county-owned credit card to put $25 worth of fuel into his own vehicle

Joseph E. Rakoczy, 49, of Huntington, was charged with theft, according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne post of the Indiana State Police. He was being held in the Huntington County Jail on $9,000 bond.

In October, Huntington County Auditor Cindy Yeiter told the state police the transaction was found when she was reconciling credit-card purchases on Rakoczy’s account, which led her to check with the gas station.

The state police findings were turned over to Special Prosecutor D.J. Sigler from the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office.
