Defiance man charged with murder in infant's death

A Defiance, Ohio man has been charged in the death of a 5-month-old child.

James L. Cooper, 29, is now facing a felony count of murder, according to the Defiance City Police Department.

On Friday, police officers and a Defiance Fire and Rescue crew were called to a Corwin Street home because of a child not breathing.

The child was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Toledo Children’s Hospital. The child died there Sunday.

Cooper is scheduled to appear in Defiance Municipal Court Wednesday.
