Travel advisory issued for Fort Wayne, county

A Winter Weather Travel Advisory has been issued for the city of Fort Wayne, Allen County, New Haven and Woodburn, according to a notice distributed by the county shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday.

“An advisory means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas,” the notice said.

Blowing and drifting snow are causing problems on city streets and county roads. Some areas may be impassable, the notice said.

If travel is a necessity, the county urges driving slowing and carrying emergency supplies, including a cell phone.
