Jon Heacock is leaving Purdue after one season.
Heacock, who was Purdue's defensive backs coach, accepted the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator job at Toledo, the Boilermakers announced Saturday.
The Toledo Blade first reported the move by Heacock, who will also be Toledo's safety coach, according to the paper.
"I would like to thank Jon for his hard work over the last year in helping to restore the Purdue program," Boilermakers coach Darrell Hazell said in a release. "I've known Coach Heacock for a long time, and I wish him well in his new job."
Heacock was Hazell's defensive coordinator at Kent State for two seasons before the two moved to Purdue. They were also teammates at Muskingum University in Ohio.
Purdue said the search for Heacock's replacement will start immediately.
