Stolen gun found after shots fired

Bracey

A loaded .22-caliber Beretta semiautomatic pistol stolen during an armed robbery this month was recovered late Tuesday after a report of shots being fired near Eden Green Apartments.

At 11:10 p.m., Indiana state troopers at the corner of Greene and Oliver streets overheard radio traffic on the Fort Wayne Police Department channel about a possible shooting.

Troopers saw a 2000 Chevrolet Impala speeding away from the complex and stopped it, with Fort Wayne officers, on Wallace Street east of Hanna Street.

The loaded gun and a bag containing a number of loose .22-caliber bullets were found on Michael William Bracey, 20, of Fort Wayne, state police said.

The gun was reported stolen after an armed robbery at Lev’s Pawn Shop in Fort Wayne on Jan. 10.

Bracey was taken to the Allen County Jail on preliminary charges of receiving stolen property and carrying a handgun without a permit. He was being held in lieu of $3,250 bail.
