Black ice creates hazard on I-69

The Indiana State Police post is urging drivers to use caution on Interstate 69 in Huntington County.

Troopers are dealing with a number of slide offs and crashes on both north and southbound I-69 in the county, primarily between the 275 and 290 mile markers, according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne post.

The highway might appear clear, but the state police said many areas are covered with a thin sheet of black ice.

Drivers should lower their speed and allow for plenty of following and stopping distance, the patrol advised.
