Felony filed in razor blade attack

A woman’s ex-boyfriend is accused of slashing her new beau with a razor blade.

Warsaw officers were called to Kosciusko Community Hospital about 1:25 p.m. Monday in response to an attack in the 700 block of East Winona Avenue.

Police said Donaldo Velasquez, 24, of Warsaw confronted his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend while they were sitting in a pickup truck on East Winona.

Velasquez reached past his ex and cut the right side of the new boyfriend’s face and head with a razor blade, police said.

Nappanee police later found Velasquez.

Warsaw police said he admitted to the attack and was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was being held on a prosecutor’s hold with no bond.

The victim, a 29-year-old from Warsaw, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
