1 shot during home invasion

A man suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and neck area during a shooting Monday night on the city’s south side.

Fort Wayne police responded to a call about a shooting at 235 W. Williams St. shortly before 8 p.m.

A man was found inside an apartment, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in his shoulder and neck, according to Jason Anthony, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman.

The man was transported to a hospital in serious condition but was upgraded to fair condition by hospital staff and was later released.

His name was not released Monday.

Witnesses told police that they heard a knock at the door and when the door was opened, four men pushed their way into the home, demanding cash.

At one point, one of the men displayed a weapon and shot the victim, Anthony said.

The four men then fled the scene in a vehicle at 7:57 p.m., according to witnesses.

No one had been arrested, and police had no additional information about the suspects or the getaway vehicle Monday night.
