Ex-boyfriend charged in razor blade attack

Velasquez

A woman’s ex-boyfriend is accused of slashing her new beau with a razor blade.

Warsaw officers were called to Kosciusko Community Hospital about 1:25 p.m. Monday about the attack in the 700 block of East Winona Avenue.

The police said Donaldo Velasquez, 24, of Warsaw, confronted his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend while they were sitting in a pickup truck in the 700 block of East Winona Avenue.

Velasquez reached past his ex and cut the right side of the new boyfriend’s face and head with a razor blade, the police said.

Nappanee police later found Velasquez.

The Warsaw police said he admitted the attack and was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was being held on a prosecutor’s hold with no bond.

The victim, a 29-year-old from Warsaw was treated for non-life threatening injuries, the police said.
