Homicide record set: 45th of 2013 is official

Turner

A ruling has been issued in the death of Steven Duane Turner, whose badly burned body was found Aug. 7 inside the trunk of a car at Branstrator and Ferguson roads.

The death of the 51-year-old has been ruled a homicide, the 45th in Allen County in 2013. All but two of the other 44 killings last year occurred in the city of Fort Wayne. Turner's body was found in southeast Allen County.

The Allen County Coroner's Office said Turner's death was caused by blunt-force trauma to the head.

The death remains under investigation.

Note

This story reflects the correct spelling of Mr. Turner's middle name. The coroner's office said that Duane is the name on his death certificate and that family members were consulted.
