Clinic to offer free flu vaccinations

Procrastinators can get a bargain – if they don’t mind the needle.

Physicians Urgent Care will offer free flu shots from Wednesday through Feb. 5 at its local clinic, officials announced Monday. The vaccinations are available to anyone aged 6 months or older who has not received a flu shot this season.

The clinic at 920 Coliseum Blvd. E. is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Physicians Urgent Care opened last fall in the former Hooters restaurant building, but the company has treated more than 1 million patients since its first location opened 25 years ago. The Rockford, Ill.-based company operates more than 20 walk-in clinics in three states.

The health care provider’s services include treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, immunizations and physicals. No appointment is needed.
