Toll Road issues winter-weather ban

The Indiana Toll Road is banning certain long trucks and oversize loads from midnight Fort Wayne time tonight through midnight Tuesday.

The ban prohibits travel for those vehicles from the Illinois state line, milepost 0, to the South Bend West exit, milepost 72, the Indiana Toll Road Concession Co. said in a statement.

It applies to triple, long double, steel haulers and high-profile oversize permit loads, the statement said.

Lake-effect snow in excess of 6 inches will be possible across a narrow area of far western St. Joseph County, the National Weather Service has forecast. Light snow accumulations are expected across the eastern half of the county.

The ban will be re-evaluated at noon Tuesday for possible extension, the statement said.
