County bar fight turns deadly

In Allen County's first homicide this year, a man was shot dead early Sunday morning outside Dupont Bar & Grill, 10336 N. Clinton Street.

The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Damian J. Miller II, 32, of Fort Wayne. An autopsy Sunday afternoon confirmed the death as the county's first homicide of 2014.

According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, police arrived at the bar at 3:49 a.m. and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds on the front sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After speaking with witnesses, they learned that he was fighting with another man inside the bar, and the fight continued outside until he was shot, the department statement said.

Detectives were interviewing witnesses to determine what led up to the fight and shooting. The Allen County Sheriff's Department and the Allen County Coroner's Office are investigating the killing.
