Pharmacy tech accused of stealing pills

Bargas

A pharmacy technician at a Waynedale Kroger store was being held Friday morning, accused of stealing hundreds of prescription pills.

Indiana State Police said Allen County detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division from the Fort Wayne post were called about noon Thursday by the security manager at the store, 7008 Bluffton Road, about prescription medications missing from the pharmacy in recent months.

At 8:30 p.m., as the technician was finishing her shift, she was confronted by the security manager and the pharmacy coordinator.

State police said Jessicah N. Bargas, 26, was reported to have produced a bottle containing 100 hydrocodone pills during the conversation. She was detained until detectives arrived.

State police said a second bottle with 100 hydrocodone pills was found on her and a third bottle containing 100 alprazolam (Xanax) pills was found in her vehicle.

Bargas remained in the Allen County Jail on Friday morning, charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance and four of theft, state police said.

Xanax is used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders and anxiety caused by depression, and hydrocodone is used as a painkiller.
