Murder charge filed in woman’s death

FORT WAYNE -- Formal charges have been filed in the stabbing death of a woman that rocked a quiet subdivision in August.

Allen County prosecutors today filed one formal count of murder against Freddie M. Alcantar Jr., 36, in connection with the killing of 59-year-old Debra Jones.

Jones, originally from Hicksville, Ohio, was found in her Myanna Lane home having bled to death after someone used a sharp object to injure her neck.

Police used video surveillance, cell phone records and DNA to link Alcantar to the killing, according to Allen Superior Court records.

A warrant has been issued for Alcantor’s arrest.
