Second Kaysan’s open after cold snap

Daeil Chang was not counting on a “freak blizzard” when he flew in from Los Angeles to help his father open a second location of Kaysan’s Fifth Down.

A week that was slated for inspections and final details was instead filled with delays because of the chilly and snowy weather last week. Still, Chang was hopeful that the restaurant at 918 Woodland Plaza Run would open this week.

And it did.

The restaurant, which is in the former Woodland Lounge location, will have the same favorites from the Kaysan’s Washington Center Road location – Bulgoghi Burger, tacos and wings. There’s also a family room.

The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. daily, but Chang says the closing time might be earlier than the original location because the new restaurant is in a family neighborhood.

Valentine’s plans

Dave Sassanella wrote that he might be “a little early on this” in an email sharing the Valentine’s Day specials at the Potawatomi Inn in Angola.

And maybe he was early – after all, Valentine’s Day is 30 days away. There’s 30 days to think about where to take your love, 30 days to make reservations.

Thirty days for restaurant books to fill up as the holiday is on a Friday this year. So sharing the details for a Valentine’s event might not be so early, after all.

Potawatomi Inn’s dinner will be 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14, and will feature a menu designed for two. It includes a shared appetizer, choice of salad and entrée and a dessert trio to share. Cost is $59.95 a couple.

Reservations are required; call, 260-833-1077, ext. 496.

Around town

The Phoenix, 1122 Broadway, is hosting a themed brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Area musicians will play acoustic music from the Beatles, and a buffet will feature (among many things) scrambled eggs, made-to-order omelets, mini egg benedicts, bacon, sausage, waffles and biscuits and gravy. Lunch items will be added at 11 a.m. The buffet will cost $12; children 10 and younger can eat for $6. Bloody marys, bellinis, mimosas and spiked hot chocolate will also be available.

•The newest Wings Etc. location has opened at 6247 Bluffton Road. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
