Lakeside, Reservoir skating ponds close

Update: Fort Wayne, IN.: After additional stress tests, the Parks & Recreation Department has closed the skating ponds at Reservoir and Lakeside Parks.

Statement as issued Wednesday by the parks department:

Fort Wayne, IN.: The skating ponds at Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Park and Lakeside Park are now open. The warming shelter at Lakeside Pond will also open, starting today at 4 pm. The shelter hours at Lakeside are: Monday – Friday, 4 – 9 pm; Saturday – Sunday, noon – 4 pm.

Ice conditions vary based on changing weather conditions, so please continue to look for the red lights and flags that would indicate conditions have deteriorated.

More reliable ice is available at Headwaters Park during public skating hours. These public skating times are subject to change due to special events, rentals and holidays.
