22-day-old infant found at apartment hospitalized

Fort Wayne police were investigating how a 22-day infant was injured at an apartment on the city’s west side Friday.

Officers and medics were called to the 2100 block of Cheri Court in the Colony Bay Apartment Complex at 12:40 p.m.

The caller said there was an unconscious infant at the apartment, according to police.

By the time officers and medics arrived, the infant was listed in serious condition and immediately taken to a hospital.

Due to the child’s age and medical condition, the police department’s homicide team was called in as part of the department’s policy.
