3-week-old in serious condition

FORT WAYNE – A 22-day-old infant was taken to a local hospital in serious condition Friday afternoon.

Police officers were called to an apartment in the 2100 block of Cheri Court at 12:40 p.m. about the unconscious infant, according to a statement issued by officer Michael Joyner, a spokesman for the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The investigation is being handled by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, Joyner’s statement said.
