    ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Miss New York Kira Kazantsev was named the new Miss America Sunday night, marking the third year in a row that a contestant from her state has walked away with the crown in the nationally televised pageant.

Cinema Editors follow suit in nominations

The American Cinema Editors on Friday kept their nominations in line with other nominating bodies this film awards season.

Nominations in the group’s three feature film Eddie Award categories are:

  • Dramatic: Joe Walker, “12 Years a Slave”; Chris Rouse, “Captain Phillips”; Alfonso Cuarón and Mark Sanger, “Gravity”; Eric Zumbrunnen and Jeff Buchanan, “Her”; and Mark Livolsi, “Saving Mr. Banks”
  • Comedy or musical: Jay Cassidy, Crispin Struthers and Alan Baumgarten, “American Hustle”; Stephen Mirrione, “August: Osage County”; Roderick Jaynes, “Inside Llewyn Davis”; Kevin Tent, “Nebraska”; and Thelma Schoonmaker, “The Wolf of Wall Street”
  • Animated: Gregory Perler, “Despicable Me 2”; Jeff Draheim, “Frozen”; and Greg Snyder, “Monsters University”
  • In the feature documentary category, the nominees are Douglas Blush, Kevin Klauber and Jason Zeldes for “20 Feet from Stardom”; Eli Despres for “Blackfish”; and Patrick Sheffield for “Tim’s Vermeer.”
Winners, including those for TV and commercial categories, will be announced at a Feb. 7 ceremony.
