Warming station, shelter updates

The Fort Wayne Mayor’s Office announced public shelter and warming station hours today to help residents stay safe in frigid temperatures.

  • The American Red Cross shelter at the Public Safety Academy, 7602 Patriot Crossing, will close at noon today, and the shelter at the Salvation Army, 2901 N. Clinton St., will remain open until noon Wednesday.
Today is the last day for warming stations led by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department.

  • The station at the Community Center at 233 W. Main St. is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Three other stations – at the Jennings Center, 1330 McCulloch St.; Weisser Center, 802 Eckart St.; and the Cooper Center at 2300 Clinton/Lafayette streets – are open from noon to 8 p.m.
