Pence orders National Guard to Fort Wayne, Bluffton

Gov. Mike Pence has directed the Indiana National Guard to stage two dozen more Highway Assistance Teams, including four for Fort Wayne and two for Bluffton, because of the snow and cold forecast around the state, the state announced today.

The four dozen four-person teams have two vehicles each, the statement said. It said they are rescuing stranded motorists, moving people to shelters and assisting local EMS workers in reaching people who need medical help.

Additional resources will be deployed as necessary, the statement said.
