Skating ponds to remain closed this weekend

Skating ponds at Lakeside, East Swinney and Reservoir parks will remain closed this weekend despite the cold temperatures, the city of Fort Wayne said today.

Snow has insulated the ice, preventing a good, thick layer from forming, the city's Parks & Recreation Department said in a statement.

More reliable ice is available at Headwaters Park during public skating hours, the statement said.
